Mythbusters #15 – “Starvation Mode” written by Giancarlo Regni
You might’ve heard someone say “I’m not losing weight because I’m not eating enough.” They claim to be in starvation mode.
I can promise you there is no starvation mode. That’s a myth. The reason the number on the scale isn’t changing is most likely due to water retention. This can happen as a result of the stress caused by not consuming enough calories.
While I do not recommend “not eating enough,” this will still result in fat loss over time… BUT you will most likely get sick, fatigued, or even injured in the process.
Slow and steady wins the race!
Track what you’re eating. Write it down even. From my experience, those who claim they are in “starvation mode” and not losing weight are usually eating too much.
